Beer
There’s been plenty of debate through the decades about who
invented the first burger. According to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, the hamburger, a ground meat patty between two slices of
bread, was first created in America in 1900 by Louis Lassen, a Danish
immigrant, owner of Louis' Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut.
There have been rival claims by Charlie Nagreen, Frank and Charles
Menches, Oscar Weber Bilby, and Fletcher Davis. White Castle traces the origin of the
hamburger to Hamburg, Germany with its invention by Otto Kuase. However, it
gained national recognition at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair when the New York Tribune referred to the
hamburger as "the innovation of a food vendor on the pike". No
conclusive argument has ever ended the dispute over invention.
Whatever the case, we’re not here to debate that. I mean,
who cares… really? What matters to us – and should to you – is that we
certainly know how to make a great
burger here and now, and have been making them better and better since 1935!
One thing that cannot be argued is that
burgers and baseball make a magical mix… and Boyertown loves us some baseball! So,
when we created the new menu, producing Boyertown’s premier heavy-hitting
home-run burger paradise lineup was of paramount importance! The results are in…
this one is out of the park! But we are going to take it a step further and
weigh in on the best beer pairing for each bangin’ burger! Oh do read on…
The Basics...
Burgers and Beers are the quintessential meal combo in our opinion. Every awesome Iezzi's burger starts with, well... the burger! Hearty homemade half-pound Premium beef patties cooked to perfection just the way you order. Then our chivalrous chefs artfully apply the tastefully tempting toppings of beautiful-beefy-burger perfection that righteously round out this lovely lineup... (whew! that was some seriously-supplementary alliteration alchemy right there!). Onward!!
The Stuffed Diablo...
Straight outta the gates, this bad boy is our house favorite! If you like a little heat with your meat, this burger fits the bill all day long... and then! Stuffed with deliciously-spicy jalapeños, cooked to perfection, and topped with crispy fried onions, savory Applewood Smoked Bacon, creamy Pepper Jack cheese, and spicy sriracha "holy" aioli. This bangin' burger is one beast of a meal fit for a king!
• The Perfect Beer Pairing
Tröegs Perpetual IPA - This bold and Hoppy Imperial Pale Ale emerges rife with sticky citrus rind, pine balm and tropical fruit that pairs perfectly with the spiciness of the jalapeños and the savory smokiness of the bacon. ABV: 7.5% Diablo!!
The Smokehouse...
This burger beauty is topped with sweet fried onions, Applewood Smoked Bacon, and velvety cheddar cheese. Mouthwatering burger perfection to satisfy the heartiest appetite.
• Perfect Beer Pairing
Guinness Draught - Sweet smelling with a coffee and malty nose. Perfect balance of bitter and sweet with malt and roast characters. Smooth creamy and balanced. Distinctively dark with a rich and creamy head that pairs perfectly with the sweet-spicy barbecue sauce and the savory smokiness of the bacon. ABV: 4.2%
The Spicy Goat...
This Boyertown Beauty is cooked to perfection and topped with fresh avocado, creamy goat cheese, and our spicy smoked jelly! It's a winner in every book!
• Perfect Beer Pairing
Dogfish IPA - "The most balanced IPA on the market" according to the Wall Street Journal. Brewed using a boatload of intense Northwest hops, we boil this continually hopped IPA for a full 60 minutes, adding more than 60 hop additions continuously to create a bold and timeless flavor. Continually hopped to deliver a pungently, citrusy, grassy hop flavor without being crushingly bitter, 60 Minute IPA is a surprisingly sessionable IPA for the craft enthusiast that pairs perfectly with this delectable burger. ABV: 6.0%
The Boyertown Blue...
The Boyertown Blue is cooked to perfection and topped with bleu cheese crumbles, sautéed mushroom, onions & spinach.
• Perfect Beer Pairing
Blue Moon - Brewed with Valencia orange peel versus the traditional tart Curaçao orange peel, for a subtle sweetness, with an added touch of coriander to provide balance. Includes a smooth, creamy finish that is inviting to the palate when garnished with an orange slice to heighten the citrus aroma and taste. Its natural unfiltered appearance adds to the depth of flavors in Belgian White and pairs perfectly with the briny earthiness of the blue cheese. ABV: 5.4%
The Tavern Classic...
Char-grilled beef topped with Iezzi’s signature sauce and your choice of cheese... and whatever else. Have it your way!
• Perfect Beer Pairing
You Name It!! - Listen, this isn't rocket science. When you love a particular beer and a burger done your way, the beer of choice just needs to please your palate, thereby respectively complimenting whatever you are eating (even if you are chewing on a shingle). ABV: Absolutely!
